Claudia Jane makeup

Claudia Jane Makeup is a professional makeup artist based in the UK, offering a range of beauty services through her website at claudiajanemakeup.co.uk. As part of Grayson Studio's free website audit initiative, we reviewed Claudia's site across three key areas: technical performance, user experience, and general mobile usability. To help her understand where her website was excelling and where there was room to grow.

What We Found

Overall, Claudia's website is in a strong position. Desktop performance is excellent, scoring 99 out of 100 on Google Lighthouse, and the site has a clear professional feel that reflects her brand well. The hero section on the homepage immediately communicates what she does and includes a clear call to action.

That said, the audit surfaced a handful of meaningful improvements, particularly around mobile experience and site structure.

On the technical side, mobile performance came in at 78 below the 90+ target. Largely due to render blocking requests and caching issues. A missing meta description on desktop is also flagged as an SEO gap, meaning the site isn't fully optimised for how it appears in Google search results.

A picture showing the statistics of her website

From a user experience perspective, the journey through the site is mostly smooth, but a few points stood out. The About page photo is oversized on desktop, which is hard to see that there is loads of writing underneath.

The testimonials page, while full of great social proof presents everything in a long list format, which makes it hard to digest. A swiper or carousel would make it feel much more dynamic.

The Contact page has excessive whitespace at the top and bottom, making it feel unfinished, and there's currently no footer on the site, meaning visitors have no easy way to find social media links or get in touch from any page other than the Contact page itself.

On mobile specifically, the enquire button on the homepage is too small to tap comfortably, spacing across the services page needs tightening, and the font size across the site is slightly large, which affects the overall polish.

Our Recommendations

Rather than making piecemeal fixes, we suggested Claudia consider consolidating her website into a cleaner three-page structure: a Homepage (combining hero, about, services, pricing, and testimonials), a Gallery, and a Contact page.

This brings the website closer together; this way would create a fuller, more premium feel and make the site significantly easier to navigate on mobile.

Alongside that structural change, the priority action list includes adding a FAQ section, building out a proper footer with contact and social links, switching the testimonials to a swiper format, resizing the about photo on desktop, enlarging the enquire button, addressing the missing meta descriptions, and tidying spacing throughout the website to make it look cleaner and more professional.

conclusion

This audit is a good example of why a fresh set of eyes matters. Claudia's website is already doing a lot right, the lighthouse scores are strong, the gallery is great, and the services page layout works well. But small things like a missing footer, an oversized photo, or a button that's hard to tap on mobile can quietly erode trust and cost enquiries. With a focused round of improvements, the site has real potential to convert more visitors into clients
